“In the midst of winter, I found there was, within me, an invincible summer. And that makes me happy. For it says no matter how hard the world pushes against me, within me, there's something stronger, something better, pushing right back."       -Albert Camus

As a registered dietitian and yoga teacher, Tori has great passion in treating and preventing eating disorders, body image disturbances, and disordered eating patterns that can accompany various mental health struggles.

Through years working through her own recovery of an eating disorder and mental illness, Tori has gained a deep understanding of the healing process which has led her to a philosophy of providing person-centered and empathetic support.

Tori earned her MA in Nutrition and Dietetics in 2022, and completed her master’s thesis on the therapeutic relationship between dietitians and individuals with eating disorders.  Within in her education Tori has gained skills on clinical dietetics, counseling techniques, food service, and management; she also has gained a deeper understanding of the personal, local, national, and global impacts of nutrition and health.

Prior to becoming a dietitian, Tori worked as peer specialist and peer specialist supervisor in Madison.   In 2018, she became a certified peer specialist and eating disorder  recovery coach through EDITTM. In her time as a peer specialist Tori grew in her skills and understanding in communication, person-centered care, and building therapeutic rapport, which led to her movement into a leadership position managing two peer support programs and supervising 15 peer specialists.   She presented at the 2021 Wisconsin Peer Conference on the topic of “Weight Stigma and the Mental Health Connection”.  This time greatly influenced Tori in wanting to provide nutrition counseling for those who have mental illness.

During her recovery process, Tori found value in the art and science of yoga in the healing process, which led her getting her 200-hour yoga teacher certification, as well as a 90-hour children yoga certification.  Tori has taught trauma-informed chair yoga groups, children’s yoga, restorative yoga, and body neutral yoga. Additional yoga trainings Tori has participated in are Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy , yoga therapy for eating disorder treatment, trauma informed yoga, and yoga for all bodies.
